At what point did you have to go on medicine, and what kind of medicine did you have to go on?
For now my fasting BS are all in the 80's, and most of my post meal BS are 100-115. However, every so often I get a reading out of the range. For instance, Monday night after dinner it was 148, this morning after breakfast it was 124. Both of those meals were within my guidelines, but my numbers were still off. I guess I am just curious if this means that I am headed towards medicine or if this is considered normal and still under control.
TIA!
Re: GD Ladies on medicine to control BS
I think you'd still be considered under control- an odd high every now and then isn't too concerning. Even though the carbs are within your limits it could just be the item and how it affects your BS's. For example, I cannot eat a banana in the morning- no fruit at all. actually- but I can eat one in the afternoon. Same carbs, same carb alottment- just different times of day.
I do inject insulin before meals and at bed time and went right on it this time when I met with the diabetes center people. With DD they had me try to control for 2 weeks with diet but that didn't work at all and I went right on injecting insulin then too.

Me too....I think that your levels are really good. You will have times that you will have high numbers. Just pay attention to what you are eating and you may have to make some changes.
From what I understand, higher numbers after meals can often be controlled with a slight change in diet or ensuring a walk after a meal. It's the fasting numbers that aren't as influenced by diet/exercise that they're more likely to prescribe meds for. My numbers 1 hour after eating are always good but unfortunately my morning fasting number and my numbers prior to eating are generally high. My endocrinologist told me yesterday that he wants to see how it goes another week but I may need insulin since I'm borderline, especially because both he and the dietician are really happy with my diet and exercise.
My endocrinologist also said that the numbers will likely creep up as the pregnancy progresses and since you're still early on at only 21 weeks, it's likely something to watch for.
Good luck!
