High-Risk Pregnancy

i failed my one hour GD test MISERABLY

and now I am here.  I didn't eat last night or this morning.  I drank the orange goo and my one hour test was 217.

I don't even get to take the 3 hour test.  Straight to the diabetes center for me.

This is my third pregnancy, never had an issue before.

Someone, anyone, please tell me this isn't going to stink as much as i think it is!!!

Yeah...my pics were so old. I got 3 kids. Nuff said. :)

  • I didn't have it with DS1 either.  I failed pretty bad with DS2.  The first few weeks did suck, but once I figured out what works for me it wasn't so bad.  The good part is not gaining much.  It took forever to take off the weight from DS1.  This time I was back at pre-pg weight by 6 weeks.

  • Hugs!

I cried for a full day once I was diagnosed.  I felt like I had failed or done something wrong and the Dr who is replacing my GP while on vacation didn't make me feel much better.  Luckily I saw the endocrinologist the next day and he was great.  Last week I went to the hospital and had a session with the nurse, who taught me how to test my blood.  After that I met with the dietician and we went over my diet.  I learned that I was eating pretty good, but need to eat more.  She has set me up with an eating plan.

It takes a bit of time to get used to everything but so far it's not the end of the world that I originally feared.

I currently have to test my blood 7 times a day and eat 3 meals and 3 snacks.  I feel like I'm always eating and almost struggle to get it all in.  I have always had a sweet tooth but haven't craved anything really sweet at all, which is a huge shock to me.  I think I could keep up with this diet long term.

     Good luck!

  • With DS I failed the 1 hr so bad (265) that I didn't even take the 3 hr either. his time I passed the  hr and failed all parts of the 3 hr (including the fasting). Following the diet really isn't so bad. You do eat often and sometimes feel like you are eating too much. But IMO it's not as bad as I expected it to be. GL!

  • I failed my 1-hour yesterday and failed the 3-hour today.  I'm really sad, but I'm sure I'll get through it.  I just hope things can be controlled via my diet.  I don't want to have to take any medication.

Hang in there!  You're not alone.
