I am probably freaking out for no reason but I really think today is O and we had sex about an hour ago. I was not very lubricated and DH spit on his hand to use as lube. Afterwards I remembered that saliva can kill sperm and now I am thinking this sex was pointless and wondering if it can kill any sperm that reached the fallopian tube from sex yesterday?? Did anyone conceive with "saliva contamination" during sex? I know this is silly and I am slightly embarrassed so take it easy on me.
Btw, DH just had to leave for the night so there is no chance we will be able to do it again tonight.
Re: Anyone conceive with "saliva contamination"? TMI
Thank you, that is more reassuring. I was looking at buying Preseed actually. I will pick some up if we don't get pregnant this cycle.
I appreciate the response. Snarky as it is, I am assuming it means that it's not a problem?
I have conceived three times using either saliva or non-sperm-friendly lube.
If your DH has healthy sperm, I don't think it should be an issue. Cave women weren't getting KU using pre-seed
LOL and Thank You for the reassurance!
OH FFS. You are fine.
There is a LOT of sperm. Maybe it killed some, but I'm sure a lot of the little guys made it up there. Hope this is your month!

If saliva killed that many sperm, it would be an additional method of birth control.
Good luck, this could still be your month!
If you tend to be dry, try using evening primrose oil (an oral supplement) from period to ovulation. It really helped me with increasing my cervical mucous. Of course, consult with your doc first.

I was thinking the same thing....ouch!
Oh relax.
I already said I was being irrational but needed reassurance. Nobody TTC wants to mess up O sex. I am laughing at myself now but I don't think it's that far-fetched to wonder in the first place.
I'm just a lurker here, but wanted to share this info with you. This is from one of the email's I got from the author:
I wanted to drop you a quick note to alertyou to something very important that you
may not realize.
I previously alerted you to the fact that
you should avoid over the counter lubricants
because they could be harmful to sperm and
therefore could prevent you from getting
pregnant.
Something else that you need to avoid that
you may not realize is oral sex. When you
are trying to conceive, it is best to avoid
oral sex on the days that you are fertile.
The reason is that saliva has bacteria in
it that are harmful and damaging to the
sperm. Therefore you do not want any
saliva in any area where sperm might be
present.
So, just avoid it around the time of
ovulation, when you are trying to conceive.
Hope you find that helpful.

Well, I can say that I have never heard about saliva being bad for the sperm! I am 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow and we used the "spit" method everytime because I am almost alway a little dry.... Oh & have faith, we got pregnant while on birth control and using saliva so there's def. a good chance for you!! & Ladies, please no rude comments about us not actually trying for the baby, We couldn't be more happy with our little surprise
)
I wouldn't waste my money. They do a lot of marketing on that stuff to try and say how it is actually this perfect environment that creates ideal conditions for fertilization, but it's not true. There are no peer reviewed studies showing this to be the case. It's true that it's not as bad as other lubes, but that doesn't mean it's good.
We had used it for almost 2 years with no luck. We went to a fertility doctor and she told us to stop wasting our money on that...it's all marketing. She said the best lube is natural lubrication, and if you need artificial lubrication, then try using canola oil. It works incredibly well as a lube, isn't harmful to the sperm, and is dirt cheap. Personally, I was never really happy with the consistency, feel, and longevity of PreSeed. It's kind of sticky and after a while dries and makes the skin tacky (which is VERY uncomfortable). Canola oil worked great.
Erm - do you typically urinate INTO your vagina?
Not peeing after sex will get you one thing - a UTI. ?
