If you use a CHI flat iron

do you use some kind of protective spray or treatment on your hair?  I just got a CHI in May and ever since, my hair has been much more brittle and TONS of visible split ends.  I get it trimmed regularly, but the split ends are back within a week.  Is there a way to avoid this and get my healthy hair back, or do I have to part with my CHI?

  • I swear by this stuff and I use my Chi everyday:

  • Thanks!  Where do you buy that from?  And, does it weight your hair down at all?  My hair is fine and thin to begin with, so it won't handle any extra weight.  But, at this rate,I'm gonna be bald if I don't change something!!
  • I buy it directly from my stylist- one tube lasts me about 4 months. It doesn't weight down my hair at all. I have fine/ thin hair too, see:

Do you wash your hair everyday? I am about every other to every 3 days. I use dry shampoo and just have to touch it up with the iron.

  • I just started using moraccan (sp?) oil and it's awesome. You put it on when your hair is damp and then go about your normal routine. I usually use some sort of heat protectant and then a smoother afterwards, but I found I don't need to do that w/ this. It makes my hair really soft and silky and seems to protect well.

  • I use the Biosilk smoothing serum while my hair is damp (you don't need much), then dry my hair.  Then I use the Biosilk "Thermal Shield" that I spray on each layer right before ironing.  Then, for extra shine I follow up with the smoothing serum to finish it all off (again, you dont need much).  I've noticed it at Target now (at least the serum).  It's kind of expensive, but it lasts forever!  You definitely need to be spraying something on it before you iron, if at the very least.  I have the CHI shield mentioned above.. it was ok, but the CHI line makes my hair very "fly-away---y" ha.

Never part with your CHI :-)
