I am a first time mommy, and we are very early in this pregnancy. We have tossed around some name ideas, and I was wondernig what others thought. I was hesitant to even post this since I have read some pretty harsh things said to others about their name choices, but I figure I would rather hear it now, rather than my kid hearing it from his friends later in life! Can't wait to hear repsonses
Boy Names:
Chase, Madden, Camden, Carson, Mason, Caleb, Parker, Jackson

Re: Looking for Opinions

For the boys, I love Caleb and Chase. Jackson is okay, but I prefer Jack. Carson isn't horrible, but I'm not a huge fan of names that end in -son. Madden reminds me of John Madden. Parker is my brother's dog, so that's my first association there. I really don't like Camden or Mason (too Kardashian).
For the girls, I love Claire and Jocelyn. Emerson is okay, but just like the boys, I don't really care for -son names, especially for girls. Cadence isn't bad without the extra "d". Beckham is a soccer player and Callahan makes me think of Callahan Auto from the Tommy Boy movie. Maybe Callista instead? It's more feminine than Callahan.
I hope those weren't too harsh. I was just trying to give you my first reaction to your list.
I would go with just naming her Becca or Rebecca then. I love Rebecca.
Of you boy names, I like Camden, Carson, Caleb, and Jackson. They other's are okay- the only one I really dislike strongly is Madden.
The only one of your girls names I like is Claire. Jocelyn is okay, the others are NMS at all.
Then I would name her that.

Parker and Jackson are on our list for boys. I also like Caleb.
I like Claire out of your choices for girls.
I don't like: Beckham or Callahan for girls but the rest are good!

Camden - More of a girl's name to me, and not one that I like
Carson - Approved
Mason - Approved, but popular
Caleb - Love
Parker - Like
Jackson - Too popular, but at least you're not spelling is Jaxon/Jaxson
Girls Names:
Claire - Love
Emerson - Eh, NMS
Beckham - No. This is a boy name, if it even is a first name

Also, this. And Beckham = Bend it Like Beckham. You don't want people making jokes about people bending your daughter over, do you? if you like Becca, name her Becca or Rebecca.

With regards to the comments about 2 D's in Cadence, and spelling in general, go to behindthename.com. I spelled my daughters name with 2 D's, because that was the spelling that looked right to me, and then later found out that the 2 D's was the feminine spelling of that name and one D is the masculine. I did look for Cadence there and would also recommend that if you go with that name, use one D because that is the feminine spelling and the only spelling that comes up.
My answer to your original question:
For boys: I'm not a big fan of Madden, Mason or Parker but like the rest.
For girls: I wouldn't recommend Beckham or Callahan, and I don't really like Emerson or Cadence, but the other 2 I like.
That being said, it's your kid, name it what you like!

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
That's interesting about the 1 vs. 2 "D"s in a name. I pointed that out not because of feminine/masculine, but because I think it would be pronounced 2 different ways. 2 D's would be Cad-ence where "cad" rhymes with "sad". 1 D would be Cade-ence where "cade" rhymes with "made".
Boy Names:
Chase - not bad. Living in Philly, I wouldn't use it because everyone would ask "...as in Utley??" but elsewhere I think you should be fine.
Madden - not my style but not awful
Camden - makes me think of one of the crappier parts of NJ - but again, maybe a regional thing? Just isn't a cute name, imo
Carson - nothing wrong with it, just nms
Mason - nothing wrong with it, just nms
Caleb - nothing wrong with it, just nms
Parker - nothing wrong with it, just nms
Jackson - love this name
Girls Names:
Claire - very cute
Emerson - just doesn't sound very girly to me
Beckham - i will never agree that this is a girl's name. it's pretty bad.
Callahan - also not a fan - doesn't sound one iota girly to me.
Cadence - nms
Jocelyn - nms

I like Chase, Carson, Caleb, and Jackson. Out of your girls names I only like Claire and Jocelyn
My Awesome Craft Blog
My other blog
Madden- I prefer Maddox.
Camden- I don't like the way it looks for some reason. I like Cameron, though.
Carson- Love
Mason- Like.
Caleb- Like
Parker- Love! My favorite. It's on our list.
Jackson- A little over-used, but a good name.
Girls Names:
Claire- Too over-used
Emerson- LoveBeckham- Eh, NMS. People would think she was a boy.
Callahan- The last name of my (male) dentist. Can't picture it on a little girl.
Caddence- NMS, but if you're going to use it I would recommend dropping a "d". It looks like "Cadd-ence" instead of "Cay-dence"
Jocelyn- Cute.
"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me the petition which I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
I love Caleb and Carson! Mason is okay.
Out of your girl names, I would go with Claire or Jocelyn.
Please, please, don't name your little girl Beckham or Callahan. Those are such masculine boy names.

Caleb and Jocelyn
ETA: You ultimately need to go with whatever name that YOU and your DH feel the most comfortable with. DS's name is Braden. Yes, I know there is a huge trend right now of naming your children names that end in the -aiden sound. Jayden, Hayden, Cayden, Aiden, etc.
But, Braden is a strong Irish surname that I absolutely love. It means salmon, which is the salmon of knowledge...it has some fun Irish legends that go along with it. We used the traditional spelling of Braden. Not Brayden, or Braiden, because we did not choose the name as part of a trend. If this was 20 years ago, we would have settled with Braden, so why not go with what we like even if others are choosing it only because it is trendy? It is also spelled with the same letters that make up my mom's name, Brenda. I've always wanted to name one of my children after her...
Anyways, all that to say...go with what YOU want. You won't regret it!
My daughter's name is Jocelyn and I love the name. We ended up giving her the nickname Josie because no one could pronounce it. So if you do go with the name, you might have the same issue.
My favorites out of your boy names are Mason, Caleb, and Jackson. I like the Claire and Jocelyn for a girl.
Of your boy names I like Mason and Jackson.
Of your girl names I like Claire and Jocelyn. I also like Emerson but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. In reality I think it is a bit too masculine.
REALLY don't like Camden, Beckham, or Callahan.
First off - congrats!
For the names I really like Carson and Jackson the best for the boys and Emerson for the girls.

You seem to have a great understanding of what this board is for! I like you.
You even get extra points for spelling everything correctly!!
Boy Names:
Chase- I knew a Chase in elementary school, and every time I've thought about him over the years, I picture him chasing a group of us girls in PE class. Not sure if it's because he chased us a lot, or if it's because of his name. Just something to consider.
Madden- Not a fan of surnames in general, but this one especially has too many current pop culture references to ignore.
Camden- Not a fan of surnames, but I like Camden a lot more than Madden. I also like the nn Cam for boys.
Carson- I really like this name, but it could just be because I like cars.
Mason- Cute.
Caleb- LOVE!!!
Parker- I don't like unisex names in general, because I don't want my son to have the same name as a girl in his class.
Jackson- used to be on my list, but it's too popular for me now. Not sure if that bothers you or not, but I thought I'd mention it. But obviously I love the name if it was on my list.
Girls Names:
Claire- Too popular for my taste, but a lovely name.
Emerson- Again, not a fan of unisex names at all.
Beckham- Not a fan of surnames- especially for girls!
Callahan- Read: Beckham
Cadence- Cute.
Jocelyn- My favorite from your girls list!
Overall a good list! Keep us updated when you add or delete names, please!
LOVE Chase
LOVE Claire
