Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone still swaddle?

I'm very curious.  i know we have to eventually break him out of it and I've tried, but he screams and loses his mind.  we've tried cold turkey, we've tried one arm, we've tried the wombie...  Some people go on the "if it ain't broke..." theory and this really works for us.  I figure when he's done being swaddled, he'll let us know, but my parents are constantly asking when we're going to be done with this.

DS loves it.  We can put him to bed while he's still awake and he goes right to sleep, usually.  I asked the chiro about development issues and he said no worries.  Ds was a little preemie so I figure if he needs it, go with it, but i just wondered if anyone else is in the same boat.

Re: Anyone still swaddle?

  • We don't swaddle anymore but I bet if we did he'd sleep alot better. We have to rock him to sleep and he still wakes up several times at night. He sleeps best if I lay him next to me and cuddle him while holding his arms down, so I'm pretty sure he would still love swaddling. He's rolls alot in his sleep though so thats why we stopped swaddling.

  • DD is still swaddled! She loves it and sleeps so so well. We're thinking of deswaddling her soon since she naps pretty well without it now at daycare.

  • We stopped swaddling at 4 months because DS2 was breaking loose.  And now he sleeps just as good as he did before but in Halo Sleepsacks instead of the swaddle version.  I assume your LO is rolling?  It really is the safest thing to stop swaddling.  Have you tried a sleepsack?  It really helped with the transition for my LO.
