if i could only have one i'd pick a tandem.... my City Select is great for almost all situations - but I believe in having the right stroller for every situation- and to me that means having a good SBS as well as a tandem..... with Craigslist you can do great buying used and saving a ton so you can afford to have one of each - even on a tiny budget.

We have more of a space issue.  We live in a condo, and I am not going to be lugging strollers up a few flights of stairs.  We can leave one in the lobby, but I don't think my neighbors will like it if I have 2 strollers parked downstairs.

do you have a car? can you leave one in there?

The Combi SBS is really small when folded... might be a good option space wise.

I chose side by side. I have the graco quattro duo and its pretty heavy and hard to steer. But I love it for the mall because of the storage. I have the jeep side by side that I havent used yet. We also just purchased the baby trend jogger which I love its super easy to push even with my car seat, toddler, diaper and shopping bags. I agree with pp. The tandem is better for shopping I can actually get in the store to look at stuff. But the SBS is better at steering in my opinion.
