I like very simple and classic names. We don't know what we're having but we've already decided on a girl's name just not a boy's.
Right now my fiancee and I like Vincent. However, his last name begins with a D and I'm worried about the initials being VD...as in venereal disease. Is this a legit concern? I don't know if I'm being overly paranoid or just realistic...
If you hate Vincent...I also like like Clark, Gregory, Calvin, and Tyler. Do you like those names or do you have similar types of names to suggest?
Re: Vincent D?
I think you're thinking too far into it. Vincent is a very solid, nice, classic boys name. I really like it.
Out of your other choices, I like Gregory, Calvin, and Tyler. Clark is okay, but nms. I think you have some really good choices though. Good luck!
Definitely. The term VD is pretty 80's. When I was in high school, they were called STDs...now they're being called STIs. At this rate, no one your son's age will have even heard of the term VD by the time he's in high school.
Vincent is a great name. I love it.
True. I didn't think about the fact that the terminology has really changed over time.
I am definitely over thinking it because I have a first & last name combo that is easy to make fun of (not in a bad way, just an annoying way) and I just don't want the same for my LO.
I still love Vincent...

It may be a problem, but my thinking is that VD is a common acronym in OUR generation. It may not even be when your child is growing up. I love the name Vincent and I'd use it in a heartbeat if I were you. Love it!
ETA: Just read through the comments. Looks like I'm not the only one with this same line of thinking, so it must be a good conclusion that has been drawn!

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I wouldn't do it.
I don't think it will cause teasing as a child, but all it takes is one person to tell him some time in his lifetime what VD stands for...
Then every time he initials papers in his job, he could be thinking about it, and wondering if his boss notices the connection as well.
That would annoy me, if I was him.
Just my opinion.
It's a shame too, because I love the name Vincent.
Vincent is a GREAT NAME!!! Love it.
We are naming our daughter Victoria and our last name begins with a D. I was also concerned about the VD initials and then realized I was being silly!
I think you should go with Vincent.
