New here-car seat question

Hi ladies-

I'm new here but have been a semi-lurker for awhile. I am 6 weeks today(!) and because I'm paranoid I want to wait for awhile to tell any of our friends or family. However, DH now needs a new truck and we are looking for any information/websites regarding trucks and car seat safety. Anyone have any places of information for us to check out?

 TIA!

  • you CAN put a car seat on the passenger seat if (and only if) you can turn off the airbags. Side jump seats are NOT safe.

  • Thanks for the responses so far, and we are looking into extended cabs so it definitely wouldn't be in the front passenger seat!

  • before you buy, I would see if you can borrow a friend's infant seat, or stop at BRU during your test drive. You'll want to make sure a seat can fit back there.

Personally, I've never gotten a rear facing seat to fit in a pickup. I have installed forward facing seats and boosters though.

  • We have an extended cab Chevy Silverado and had no problem installing both the infant and convertible seat rear facing.  I'd just be sure to check the owner's manual of the truck you want and it should have all the information you need!
