Cloth Diapering

Diaper pail vs. hanging wet bag

I have been looking into Pail vs Wet bag... should I buy a diaper pail and liner or would XL hanging wet bag that zips work?

Re: Diaper pail vs. hanging wet bag

  • I just use 2 zippered large wet bags at the moment.  I swap for the other when I wash one.  I'm thinking I'll need an XL one or two once the diapers start getting bigger (we're in newborn/preemie size currently).  It's easier to carry the bag around from upstairs to downstairs when we come down in the morning.

  • I have both.  The diaper pail with liner holds more diapers.  I can barely get two days' worth of DD's diapers into the hanging wet bag (I use the L PlanetWise, which is 18x21 inches and can hold 16-18 diapers).  I use it while we are traveling only.  It's very handy, but just not big enough.

  • I have 2 planet wise large hanging wet bag, And I just got my Monkey Foot Designs hanging wet bag, it's huge compare to my planet wise bags, can definitely hold 3 days worth for sure.  I was not a fan of the pail liners/pail, I just could not take the smell.
  • I'm planning to do the wash every other day so I think the large weehuggers laundry bag will fit my needs nicely. I like the portablity of it; I could throw it over my shoulder and change her anywhere in the house.

  • I use a PlanetWise pail liner with a plain old flip top kitchen trash can.  works great for me and no smell.

  • We've been using a trash can (with lid) with a Wahmies wet bag this whole time.  My son has discovered the joys of pulling his dirty diapers out of the pail and putting things like my phone in there - so needless to say, we're thinking about switching to a hanging wet bag and hanging it on the door.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh!  :)

We use 2 large sized PlanetWise hanging bags. I do laundry every 2-3 days and by laundry time I'm breaking out the second bag. And the bag gets so heavy that it keeps unsnapping off the changing table where we have it.

I think I'm going to order a Monkey Foot Designs one from Etsy. I love how our PlanetWise work, they're just not big enough for us anymore.

I prefer the diaper pail for every day use, but it is nice to have the hanging bag for when we travel.

This.  I also felt like the Planetwise hanging wet bag I have didn't wash up well and took a while to dry.

  • Definitely diaper pail...they are super easy. I have two liners so I can put a fresh one in while the others in the wash.
