Hi girls! Q for you re: baby's middle name

Hey!

I haven't been here much lately but things are starting to normalize here at home and Jacob is a very mellow baby so far  I can't believe he's a week old already, sniff...

So... DH and I had a middle name picked out, Makai.  Well to be fair I love Makai so I picked it out and DH likes it.  We wanted something Hawaiian because of our closeness to HI, engaged there, married there and so on... So it would be Jacob Makai H (for those of you on FB you know our last name, it ends in an 'i'.)  I think it flows nicely.  But... DH has mentioned that giving him a Japanese middle name is super important to him... he kind of mentioned this to me at the last hour, LOL  FWIW, I chose Jacob, it's part of my Dad's name and a name I have loved for a long time, DH didn't argue with it and Jacob it was.  The Japanese name DH wants is Kenji, it also honors DH's co-worker that passed away a few months ago suddenly from a heart attack, this co-worker was like a second Dad to DH.  I am having a hard time with the whole two middle name thing though but... it's all about middle ground right? So I'm warming up to it  My Q for you is this, what sounds better;

Jacob Makai Kenji or Jacob Kenji Makai

I think I like Jacob Makai Kenji a little better - but do the meanings flow better one way or the other? That might be a way to decide.

Either way sounds nice. Two middle names is actually quite the rage, all the movie stars are doing it.

Hey Tara!  My vote is for "Jacob Kenji Makai" because I think it flows nicely with your last name.  Since Kenji and H____i both end with the long "e" sound, I like the idea of separating the two with Makai.  JMHO.    Let us know what you decide!

I really can't decide between the two cuz I think both sound really nice I love the names you guys picked for the middle name too! The only thing I thought was that if you have JKM then the two Japanese names (since last name is Japanese) would be separated by a Hawaiian name, whereas JMK would group the two Japanese names together at the end. I like Nicole's point about having the long "e" sounds separated though

I was going to say I like how Kenji Makai flows better...and after reading what Nicole wrote I totally think that is the way to go so you don't have the too "ee" sounds too close together

Thanks everyone.  Nicole what you said was so right, I totally agree.  We're going with Kenji Makai, two middle names, hopefully I'll keep warming up to the idea
