Preemies

Preemie clothes

Hi Ladies! I am not sure when my twins will be born but i wanted to make sure i had some preemie clothes in my hospital bag just in case. Where is a good place to get them? BRU had a very small collection and not finding too many cute ones online.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Preemie clothes

  • I will be honest that our hospital had a lot of preemie clothes that had been left with them.  I was lucky that someone gave me 0-3 months Gerber onesies which fit well (Gerber onesies fit small).  We had to label any clothes that we left at the hospital.  I did not buy any preemie clothes.

I waited until my LO was born to buy baby clothes--I had more of an idea about how my baby sized--and I bought some cute Newborn size Carter's at JC Penney's (the Beary Cute onesie in my signature was Carter's) and Carter's and Koala Baby at BRU.  Okay, so he looked like puff daddy, but he was in the hospital and it was not like he was trying to impress anyone---I pushed up his pants in the beginning and then he grew into them.

I will also say that we slowly started getting gifts of baby clothes from friends and family--one friend gave us the the Newborn Miniwear onesies and pants--my baby is wearing Miniwear in my signature--the one with the doggies.

You will have your favorites.  One of my other favorites we got at Gymboree.  Gymboree is having an online sale this weekend.

I had this Monkey one-piece from Gymboree in 0-3 months--loved it because it had the snaps that made diaper changes easy--as well the mitts over the hand, and babies are fussy when you put something over their head--and I could just open up the outfit and snap him in.  This outfit is $4.89 on sale this weekend--it is under Newborn--Uni Sale.

  • Ditto the gerber onesies - DD was 5lbs 5oz and fit well into the NB onesies.  She was even in NB clothes when she left the hospital...the preemie ones would have been waaay too small on her.

Most NB clothes are 5-8lbs, so they fit pretty small babies and they'll have room to grow.

GL and congrats on your twins!

  • DD came home under 4lbs, so we needed preemie clothes for a while. I think a month or so. We bought most of ours at BRU, and I think a couple outfits from Target. She was born in the winter, so once I found a preemie sleeper that was cute, I actually bought two of it. She pretty much lived in that unless we were going out somewhere or having someone over. Which was pretty rare lol
  • We found lots of cute preemie clothes at Wal-Mart!

Ditto!  I found a ton at my local baby consignment stores!  TONS!

Also, with BRU, you can give them your name and number and have them hold preemie clothes as soon as they come in so you can get pick of the shipment.

Mine does this so I would think most would.

  • We received quite a few sleepers as gifts while DD was in the NICU, so don't go overboard buying stuff just yet Smile
  • LO didn't fit into them after he was 5lbs. I see that you are from upstate NY. I live in Buffalo area and have a Carters store nearus. They have a good variety and good quality with good prices. But like other have said don't buy too many esp if they are full term they wont fit for long.
  • Burlington Coat Factory has a big selection of preemie clothes if you have one near you.

  • Gymboree had some very nice and cute stuff:) My preemie is still in her preemie stuff as the Gymboree go up to 7 pounds:) Maybe find someone on here who can trade. I plan to donate mine or trade with someone. Maybe others have the same idea.
  • It may be a little pricey, but Janie & Jack has girl, boy and neutral clothes in preemie size and its all adorable. Also, their sale section is pretty big right now and you can buy online if there is no store near you...check it out and good luck!
  • I found all of our preemie clothes at consignment stores like Once Upon a Child. Many still had tags on them. We did not bring any of our clothes to the hospital during their NICU stay though- the NICU had a wonderful assortment of clothes for them, and I didn't want our stuff to get lost. After the girls grew out of them, all of our preemie sized stuff was donated to the NICU.

  • There is a brand called "Kissy Kissy" that makes great preemie clothes. I used them even in the NICU because they are made to go on easily even w/tubes, IVs, etc. And they are very soft. There is a store that sells them where I live, but you may want to do a search online if you do not have a store near you. Good luck w/the twins!
