Anyone else have this? I've been itchy for about 2 weeks now with the rash and from what I've read online I just have to wait it out. Ughhh. I've been using clear Caladryl lotion to help but it leaves a residue.
I thought you only got PUPPS while pregnant and it's supposed to go away after birth? I didn't know you can develop it after birth. I'd talk to your doctor to see what he thinks. I did a quick Google and someone mentioned it could be a side effect of Colace which is a stool softener. If you got that after delivery that may be the cause.
Is it possible that you're having a sensitivity reaction to something you're using? Have you changed your detergent you wash your clothes in (even a different formula of the same brand) or your bath soap? Even a lotion? I don't know much about PUPPS honestly but I have had sensitivity issues with detergents and lotions before so that's why it came to mind. From some of the pictures I've seen online, some of them remind me of the bumps/rash I've gotten from changing detergents before.
Good luck and its probably worth a call to the doc for your own sanity. Caladryl can leave a residue regardless of how you use it so more than likely it's just the nature of the product. Benedryl also has a anti-histamine lotion and spray that could be helpful if its more of an allergic reaction/sensitivity issue.
Thank you ladies. Yes, I thought PUPPS was in the 3rd trimester usually but the pictures look like what I have. I also read in other forums that it could be a side-effect of hormones re-adjusting, a reaction to DH's DNA from Nia when I gave birth or a reaction to the epidural. DH hasn't noticed anything wrong with his skin (and he's way more sensitive to products/detergent than I am) and Nia doesn't have a rash either. It appears that it's quite common though post-partum. I'll give a call to my dr. and see if she has a recommendation for relief.
If I remember correctly, this is what Dani had while she was pregnant. I hope she'll have some tricks for you!
My OB & my dermatologist both thought that I had PUPPS, but it turned out to be an allergy to the cocoa butter I was smothering on myself to prevent stretch marks. My rash looked exactly like all of the PUPPS pictures. But, once I stopped using the cocoa butter, the rash disappeared (thank goodness I forgot to take it on our babymoon, or I might not have figured it out!). I didn't realize that it could occur post partum. From the reading I did at the time, it sounded like delivery was the cure (although it certainly makes sense that it could as a result of hormones readjusting). I hope that's not what it is & you can find some relief soon!!!
Omg, Dani!! I was going to suggest your help on this but I had no idea it didn't turn out to be PUPPS!! I have no other help on this, Q, but i hope you get it figured out really soon!
Interesting Dani! I started using a 100% cocoa butter stick on my tummy right before I went into the hospital but the itching started after I was released. That could be it. Thank you!
I looked up pictures of PUPPS rashes and it looks like my "I'm-Allergic-To-Wisconsin" rash. Which were actually hives that I got as the result of being allergic to every plant that spores in Wisconsin in August. Though mine only showed up on my arms and legs (anywhere that wasn't covered by clothing or washed throughout the day). So it *could* be an allergy. But I'd still talk to your doctor ASAP! I really hope it's not PUPPS for your sake! A friend of mine got it in her SECOND tri and everything you scratch it it'll spread and she would just itch so much at night she'd do it without thinking so her husband duct taped oven mitts on her hands for the rest of her pregnancy but she was still really miserable for the last 15 weeks. But in her case it went away almost right away after having her baby.
My best friend had PUPPS when she was preggo with the first... It was HORRIBLE. She found some crazy online remedy that really worked. If that's what you think it is, I can find out what she took...I seem to remember some dandelion week or something, but I don't remember.
