I'm interested to hear the answers, too. We plan to use the ultimate crib sheets but I was thinking of still getting a waterproof mattress pad. I have heard a lot of people put a regular crib sheet under the ultimate, so that if they need to take off the ultimate in the middle of the night, they will already have a clean sheet ready underneath...but then I'm thinking you need a waterproof layer under that one.

i bought two ultimate crib sheets, so that if i have to change in the middle of the night, i have a backup already. i am planning on using a regular crib sheet underneath. it's probably overkill to get the mattress pad, but i just want to hear from people with babies who have used the UCS.

Yes we do, but it maybe overkill since the matress is waterproof. We have the matress pad, then the sheet, then the ultimate crib sheet. We only have one ultimate crib sheet and I will be getting more - the crib sheets have the elastic all the way around so I have to take the matress out of the crib to change sheets which is a pain.
I used them with my DD, and will with my DS as soon as the poor kid is out of the PNP and in a crib.
We had the mattress pad, sheet, and then the UCS on top. I would always use a mattress pad, waterproof, not waterproof, kid or adult, just to have a barrier between a thin sheet and the mattress.
They work great and really are a fabulous item. I would recommend it 100x over.

Yes we have both but its probably not necessary. I just had been given the mattress pad and I'm pretty careful about protecting all of our mattresses. The UCS is all about convenience- don't get me wrong, I like that it's got the waterproof backing, but that's not why I bought it.
