I think that because ttc has been such a challenge for us, when I do finally have a baby....I'm sparing no expense.
I don't want hand me downs. I want to pick everything out. And I want the best of everything.
I think if I had gotten KU right away, I'd be more reasonable and frugal about the whole thing. But I think after almost 2 years and the loss, I deserve to go bananas with baby purchases.
Re: Anyone else feel this way?
Ha. I'm the opposite. By the time we get done paying the RE bajillions of dollars, everything is going to have to be secondhand!!!
Ok, ok, and Colinda the Crunchy has a thing for secondhand stuff.

That's my plan for things that come from my side.
But his sister just had #2 (she's 6 months old now) and they're definitely all done having kids (per doctor's orders). So, by the time we pop one out she'll have TONS of stuff to give us. Don't know what I'm gonna do about that.
Sadly, my eventual take home baby has a growing pile of unused hand-me-downs...
But I agree, any kid o'mine, will be beyond spoiled for nice crap!
I second you on that. I'm a bit frugal and a secret yard sale junkie, so secondhand stuff is great for me. Plus after all the RE bills there won't be a whole lot left over for sure.
Although there will probably be a few things I have to splurge on.
Lindsay, I feel the same way! I don't go to BRU anymore because it makes me sad. The little boutiques I get baby gifts at are much pricier, but super cute things and there aren't as many FHs. I have picked out SO many things for the nursery and their outfits! My DH is also frugal, but he spoils the dogs rotten, so I'm hoping he'll let me buy what I want for our kid. Now, my mom sews and smocks really well, so I'm going to be all up in that. I would like to learn how to smock and do pillowcase dresses before I have babies.
Plus I know my parents and sister will be buying things all the time, we have no babies in our family on my side right now.
Good for you!
While I did not change my idea of spending of the baby I have made other descisions.
When I was pg I was determined to stay "full duty" as long as possible and "pull my weight" at work, but now I saw Fvck that Sh!t I can't wait to be pg and kick my heels up!

I've had the complete opposite reaction. I'm not thrifty or frugal at all, and for years I had fun looking at expensive baby furniture and items and designer strollers and diaper bags online and planning all the great things I would buy for my kid.
And now I just don't give a crap about any of that any more. I hate thinking about it, because it reminds me of my naive optimism, and I wonder if I'll retain this aversion to babystores even after getting pregnant. We'll see.
