How to keep kids from escaping???

Any suggestions on how to keep my 3.5 & 2.5yr olds from opening my sliding doors and escaping to the backyard? They can pop the lock and even remove the broomstick from the door track. I need to put some kind of lock up high. Everytime i get occupied w the baby--double trouble take off! Lol.

  • They make a whoozit that goes up high.  Does what the broomstick does, just higher up.  Looks like a giant steering wheel lock.  I unfortunately can't think of the name of the stupid thing.  lol

  • Yah, they have something at Home Depot.  YOu can either drill into the door and put a pin in or there's a little lock that you can attach to the top track so they can't open the door (kind of a PITA b/c you have to take it off if you want to open the door).

  • We found a velcro door lock that we put on top.  I ahve no clue, maybe from 1 step ahead.  Basically, you put a velcro strip at the top of the door on the glass and then there is a piece that reminds me of a door stop that velcro's to that and the door sort of slides onto it and then stopes when opened.
