an Ovulation kit? I was looking at them while in the store the other day... We've only been trying since July, but if they work..why not try one, right? If you did, can you recommend which brand you used?

 I think I'm past ovulating for this month, so hopefully it worked for us and we won't even need this! But if not, I figured it would be worth a shot!

Also, when should you start to use the kit if you're AF isn't regulated yet? Mine is coming a different day every month...last month I had a 40 day cycle.

Yes, I think they were an IMMENSE help.  Even when a cycle didn't work for us, I was confident in our timing due to OPK's. 

I used the OPKs from this internet cheapie site:

I picked up a few digitals just to confirm when I wasn't sure. 

They never failed me. 

As for when to start using them if AF isn't regulated yet...this is another great website...and the answer to your question is #8 on the list.  (This entire website is GREAT for OPK information.  I visited it regularly.)

I didn't use one.  After 3 unsuccessful cycles, I decided that I was testing on cycle 4 and I was buying an OPK if I got another BFN.  Cycle 4 was the magic number for us.

They are significantly more expensive but I don't have to be figuring out if it's positive or not (my positive lines are usually 1/2 dark, not dark all the way).

MINE ARE THE EXACT SAME WAY AND IT DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! I get so confused!!!

 I agree. We are on our 3rd errr... maybe 4th month of trying and I started using OPKs last month.  I use the CVS brand, but I just purchased some off of amazon (50 opks and 20pg tests for $11.00)

Just remember that OPKs show your body is gearing up for ovulation, it does not guarantee you will ovulate.  If your body is still regulating, it is possible you will gear up several times in a cycle without necessarily ovulating.  The only way to be sure you did ovulate would be to chart your temperatures (but that shows you after the fact).  Good luck~!
