So I just tried a Doppler for the first time. Finally found a HB, but
it was only about 90-100 bpm. Now I'm wondering if I was listening to
my own HB rather than the baby's. I HOPE that's the case...
That is in the range for your own... the baby's will also be quieter... at ten weeks it will be hard to find... just because the baby/ your uterus is behind the pubic bone... you have to go low to the pubic bone, and maybe tilt the doppler a little down and around...
Definitely don't worry at this point if you can't find it... doctors and midwives have trouble sometimes at 10 weeks.

Where exactly is the pubic bone. In other words, should I be down around the hair line? Or up higher?
Yeah, what I heard was clear as day...definitely not the baby's then.
I'd say, just at the top of the hairline.. 4 or 5 inches below the belly button. Basically, as low as you can go until you hit bone.
