1st Trimester

Stress?

Can stress cause a miscarriage? I don't have my first doctors appointment until next week. This is actually our second pregnancy. We have a son who is 16months old. But I am under so much stress these days I am afraid it could cause a miscarriage. I will obviously ask this when I go to the doctors next week, but was just wondering if anyone has heard of this.

  • No, but symptoms of stress can cause complications in pregnancy- increased blood pressure, lack of sleep, poor eating, etc. can cause issues on to their own so it's important to cut out as much stress as you can while you're building the baby. First trimester is usually pretty stressful, so as best you can try to relax.

Ditto this.  Drink plenty of fluids and eat well and take care of YOU (and you'll be taking care of baby).  Listen to your body.
