Please share your experience if your toddler/baby had mono...

My 4 yo son has been sick for 6 weeks now, stomach bug, cold, cough, ear infection, all over body rash while on anitbiotics and finally he has been diagnosed with mono.

Just wondering what to expect.  I hope to see my happy little guy again soon: (

Re: Please share your experience if your toddler/baby had mono...

  • My dd just went through this last week.  Thankfully, it was caught very early and she seems to be back to normal already.  She had a 104 fever for 6 straight days, and I have NEVER seen a throat so infected in my life. I kid you not, her tonsils were touching and were pure white because there were so many pustuals on them. Although mono is viral, the ped put her on an antibiotic as he felt there would be a bacterial infection creeping in based on her throat infection. He also debated steroids, but I opted not to go that route. She does still have some throat issues and a hacking cough, but the fevers are done.

Yesterday I noticed a few spots on her legs where there are clusters of bumps.  I think she now has impetigi from the infection, and we will be back to the dr tomorrow am.  I don't want to see her get MRSA because they go untreated!
