Flushable Liners?

Okay, so I did not even realize that this is an option!  Is it a good option?  Thoughts?  My diaper service can provide Bummis Flushable Liners.  If liners are a good option, are these specific ones good?

Re: Flushable Liners?

  • We used flushable liners after we started our son on solids, and they were a good option for us - up until a few weeks ago when we had a clog in our main line and found out they were the culprit.  We've since switched to throwing them away until my husband actually installs the diaper sprayer we just got.  But yes, I've used Bummis and they worked fine.
  • Flushable liners don't work at all for EBF babies -- the poo goes right through them. And they're not necessary anyway, since EBF poo is water-soluble, so you just put poopy diapers in the pail and you're done.

They're a decent option for babies who are on solids. I haven't used them yet with DS, because although he's on solids, he's eating little enough that his poo is still runny. I did try the Bummis ones with DD, and they were OK, but they were small and thin and tended to bunch up. I like the GroVia ones better.

  • I didn't like them. They're scratchy, they're huge, and they don't stay put. The only good thing is you can wash the ones that only get peed on.

I've heard better things about Imse Vimse liners than Bummis.

  • I've only used bummis and cutesy baby liners. The bummis ones are definitely better.  And someone said they are huge but my guy is in the largest setting on all his one size diapers and they actually don't even catch all the poo so for us not big enough They do a pretty good job though

  • We use them, but we wash our own. I don't think you would need to with a diaper service. Also, as PP said, EBF poo doesn't necessitate liners. Once you are on solids you might change your mind though. We have tried Bummis and ImseVimse. IV ones hold up better for reuse if they are only wet you can even send them through the washer and dry to reuse.
  • Thanks for the info!  Planning to EBF, so it's good to know that these don't work particularly well with EBF!
  • I use imse vimse liners with my 2 year old and they work very well. They do bunch up in the diaper but that makes it hold in the poo better when it comes time to change him.

EBF poo is awesome b/c you don't have to do anything with it! I just put them in the washer and do a rinse before I start the wash cycle.

  • Is your diaper service telling you you need to clean the diapers? your paying them to clean them, I wouldn't worry about the liners
