Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Recommend your crib soother/mobile

Hello all,

Recently we weaned Alexandra from her swaddle and pacifier and while she has done a great job, I really think we need to get something in her crib that can help her, whether it plays music or lights up or just is something to look at while she falls asleep.

Does anyone have anything good for helping babies go to/return to sleep? I always wondered if mobiles got them more stimulated and kept them awake but I think it might be nice for her to have something aside from her Nutbrown Hare.

  • We have the baby crack machine

I like that I can set it anywhere in the nursery and project on the ceiling or wall above the crib. I didn't want to hook anything to the crib.

  • Does this crack machine make baby hooked on it though? Like does LO wake up in the middle of the night and need it to be turned on again? Because that is why we got rid of the pacifier, she kept waking up when it fell out and it was disrupting her sleep a LOT.

It doesn't for us. We turn it on when he's going down for the night and set the auto timer for 30 minutes. Once he's out, we don't hear a peep out of him until the next morning.

Can he go down without it? Do you use it for naps? :) Sorry for the third degree.

I use the white noise function for naps some times but not the projector. He can nap without it and has no problem napping in the PnP or bouncer without it, but I just turn it on out of habit if he naps in the nursery. We've never had any reason to try to get him to bed for the night without it, so I don't know if that would be an issue, but he's a pretty good sleeper, so it may not be.

We have this too & swear by it. We leave the noise & projector on for him all night. For naps we just use the white noise. DS goes down "drowsy but awake" & watches the ceiling images & he goes right to sleep.

Oh, it can stay on all night long? So if Alexandra wakes up it will still be on to help soothe? hmmmm. Now I am tempted. I feel bad like I am replacing the pacifier with anotehr crutch I will have to eventually take away (or maybe not, who knows).

  • Yeah, it plugs into the wall as opposed to batteries, so it can stay on all night if you want, or you can set the timer to turn it off.
