Help...cereal?

So we tried cereal last night and pretty much he hated it.  He made thsi disgusted face and kept turning his face away from the spoon. I made it with breastmilk and that's really how I'd prefer to do it.  So..do we keep trying to see if it'll grow on him after a couple of nights or do we wait a week or two to see if he's more "ready?"  Thoughts?

Re: Help...cereal?

  • You have to give it a chance. The texture of the cereal and eating from a spoon are entirely new concepts to him. He'll get the hang of it, just keep trying.

  • the first week of trying oatmeal kylie hated it. she still does (only started 2 weeks ago) but a friend suggested maybe mixing in some apples or something. i know some people will say OMG YOU GAVE YOUR BABY APPLES AND SHE ISNT 4MONTH YET but yea i mixed in apples and bananas and that helped a little. she still doesnt really like oatmeal or rice so we are just skipping right to food. she had green beans today and loved them!

We also put apple juice in our DD cereal.  She was eating if but having problems pooping and the pedi told us to add juice to her diet.  I chose to mix it in w/ her cereal and she eats it a lot faster LOL.  I also water down the juice so I'm pretty sure she doesn't get that much of it.  You can always try it.

  • Also, a lot of bsabies don't like rice cereal, but like oatmeal. It tastes better.
  • DS was the same way the first day but got better.  Make sure it is really thin for a few days and slowly make it thicker.
