PIO injections thigh vs. hip

Just talked to my RE & they said that I will have a choice to do the PIO shot in my thigh or in my hip. I will be doing my own injections b/c DH will faint. What do you recommend & which is less painful? TIA

I did not get the option- my RE requires the hip.  Its not too bad to give it to yourself.  I just ice the area on my hip for about 10mins prior and its pretty painless.  I am right handed and do struggle with the left side, but I am lucky that my hubby can do that side for me.  I only do my own when he is traveling for work!!

Gosh, that's a toughie... I think I'd prefer the hip/butt rather than the thigh. I do all my own PIO, and my butt just seems like it has so much more... err... padding.

I was only given hip as an option from my new RE. I remember asking these lovely ladies on this board before about hip v. thigh and remember being told something about the PIO doesn't go in as well in the thigh as the hip.

DONT DO THE THIGH FOR PIO! I have heard horror stories.... it is just not meant for the thigh. Good Luck!

Thanks ladies!! I guess I am just terrified that I won't be able to pull it back some to check for the blood with just one hand.

Another question...do you do it like a dart or slowly like you did the sub q shots in your belly?

I agree. I did Delestrogen in my thigh oil based also and 2 months after I stopped the injections I was still getting huge lumps under the skin and it itched like hell...

Honestly, I can not imagine doing it in the thigh-that shiz would hurt like hell! The butt/hip is honestly not bad.....go for hip!

the hip isn't bad at all. dh gives it to me and he does it real fast, like a dart. minimizes the pain (this morning he was slower than usual and it hurt!).
