picasa help needed

I have been trying for the past hour googling this info but i cannot find the answer, until i thought of the bright idea of posting it here. I am not a photographer, but i have a few pictures of DD that i want to frame.

All the pictures are horizontal and I want to put them in vertical frames.  How do i save them using picasa so that they print out vertically? I have done it before but cannot remember it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so tired of spending time on this project

are you using the picasa on your pc or is it the webalbum version?  if it is on your pc, once you have the picture on your screen...at the bottom there are two little "swoopy" blue arrows that will rotate your pictures.  be sure you save the pictures by clicking the save button above the picture.

i am using the pc version. I know about the swoopy arrows, but that just rotates the whole picture. I want the picture to remain the same , but i want to print it out so that i can put it in vertical frames instead of horizontal. I know it can be done using the crop tool but i am not sure how.

In the crop tool, there's a drop down box where there are preset crops -- 8x10, 5x7, etc. You can also resize the preset crops.

what would be the preset crop for a vertical picture?

I have taken these pictures horizontally.  i want to take them to walmart so that they print out vertically.

Choose what preset size you want the picture, then click the picture to select the area you want printed. Since you took the picture horizontally, to make it vertical, you'll have to lose some of the picture. But, you can move the "crop box" around the picture to select the area you want printed. Does that make sense? Good luck!
