Abbie has had the nasal vaccine a few times for the regular flu with no problems. She did H1N1 by a shot last year though, I don't know if the nasal was available? They did it at her school so maybe that's why.
They have the shots, but you have to request it. I will never do the nasal again. Emmy did the nasal last year for the first time (didn't know it was a live virus and I was pregnant on top of that...but that's only a low risk). Anyhow...she had a low grade fever for over a month that freaked me out. Also, it was the first time she started wheezing during the winter,,,and I honestly think it has to do with the nasal vaccine. Everytime she has a cold now, she needs her inhaler. It sucks. I should have thought twice about it when they asked me before administering it if she's ever had breathing issues because they don't give it to kids with breathing issues. (now my kid happens to fall into that category).
Re: nasal flu vaccine for toddlers
Most use the nasal I believe. Both my girls got the nasal, neither had any major side affects (maybe a slight fever, but nothing else).
Per our pedi, it's more effective in lil ones than the shot.
