Question about switching from a sensitive formula to a regular one

DD had her 4 month appt yesterday and the pedi said we could try and take her off of the Similac sensitive she was on and put her on Similac advance. Well when she used up the rest of the sensitive last nght I gave her a bottle of the advance. She ate some and then threw up about half of what she ate, it was a pretty significant amount. Then this morning she ate it again, no problems, I don't think she even spit up. I was feeding her just now after she woke from her nap and she only at 2 oz (she usually eats 4), then I was holding her and she projectile vomited it ALL up.

She is not crying like her tummy hurts or anything, but I just wonder if I should switch her back to the sensitive or just give it some time? She also had her 4 month shots yesterday, would that have anything to do with her throwing up, or is it just the formula? Anyone have any experiences like this after switching from a sensitive formula? TIA

Re: Question about switching from a sensitive formula to a regular one

  • I would call the Dr. first and foremost and see what they say. Was she on sensitive due to lactose issues? If so then she may still have them and cant handle the reg. formula. I am curious to see what happens with this because my LO is on sim. sensitive and we had considered switching her at some point but I know that she was lactose intolerant and thats why we had to switch to the sensitive.

  • I called the pedi first and I'm waiting to hear back from them, I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience. Yes, we put her on the sensitive due to being lactose intolerant...

  • i would call the doctor to make sure. .  i know for us with DD, the doctor told us it was all right at 6 months and then we had so many issues that we couldn't change her and didn't until she was transitioning to reg milk at a year old. .
