Approximately what time and duration are your 5 or 6mo's naps? It seems from what I've heard that the morning nap tends to be the longest, but my LO takes a pathetic 30-minute first nap but lately has been taking a much longer afternoon nap. And then another one or two catnaps later.
What about you?
Re: 5mo naps
My daughter naps from 8 to about 9:30 or 10:00
She naps again at 1:00ish until about 3 or 3:30
She goes to bed at 8:00pm and wakes up at 6-6:30am
If her afternoon naps goes short she gets tired and goes to bed earlier and does not wake up any earlier.
wow. did you do something to encourage that routine? Does she have a cat nap in the evening or is she really awake for 5 hours? I want to know your trick!
Hi Idoo! How did the camping trip go??
B's naps are really all over the place. She used to have a long nap first thing in the day (90-120 mins) and then 2 shorter naps (about 60 mins). But at daycare her naps stink! Some days she get hour + naps and other days she cat naps! She always takes a nap when she gets home around 5 - anywhere from 30 to 90 mins and goes to bed at 8...sleeps til 7:30ish.
On the weekends though, her naps are more consistent. 90 mins in the AM, 2-3 shorter naps after that (45-60 mins usually).
My DD takes 4 naps a day. They range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, with no consistency of how long, although they are at the same times everyday.
My son never took more than a 20-40 minute nap his entire first year of life.
Some kids are just better nappers than others.
Camping was a blast! We lucked out and got a breezy day so it wasn't too hot. Sasha took a naplet in the car on the way, another one in the parked car with the windows open and in the shade and another one on the way home (didn't realize she would take that last one).
We let her roll around and play in the PNP and I put her in the Baby Bjorn when we went for a walk.
I didn't bother putting my 2yo down for a nap. No way would she nap in that environment. And it would have been nice if DD would have take more than 30-minute naps, but it was perfectly fine and she slept well that night.
You should try it.
Now - overnight camping? I'm not ready for that.
