I started having stomach pains last Friday afternoon and was feeling really uncomfortable into the evening.
By the time my DH got home that night, I was really, really uncomfortable. I was experiencing waves of pain in my right side (and occasionally on my left), accompanied by very hard and rather large lumps that would rise up in my belly, go away, then rise up again (sometimes in the same place, sometimes high or low).
This continued throughout the night, so sleep was elusive. I didn't wake the next morning until about 10:30am. I ate a late but hearty breakfast, then headed to the recording studio to cut some songs with my band.
The studio session was originally supposed to last from 1PM - 9PM. Luckily, I got done with my vocals around 5:30PM and headed home. The whole time I was at the studio, I kept experiencing the same pains, but much worse. I just tried to work through it, thinking little one was stretching and kicking ... and that it was something I would just have to get used to.
To make a long story short, at the advice of my MIL, we called the doc and were advised to go to the emergency room, for fear I may be in pre-term labor (at just 24 weeks). Needless to say, I was hysterical with fear.
I ended up in Labor & Delivery Triage from 7PM - Midnight. It turns out I was having some contractions and was a little dehydrated, so they gave me some fluids. The also gave me some injections to stop the contractions and the pain.
I have a lot of fibroids and several of them are quite big. After an ultrasound, we discovered that LO is playing soccer with the largest one (which is over 11 cm) because he's feeling crowded. It was funny to see it on the screen, but very painful to endure!
So, now I'm on meds to cope with the pain as needed ... and I have to have ultrasounds every two weeks to keep tabs on the situation.
Ugh! I'm so glad he's doing okay, but J.T. is already wearing me out! I know he's going to be a handful!![]()
Add to that, I am believed to have a stress fracture in my right foot (a side effect of the pregnancy) ... and I just feel like a hot mess!
Please keep us in your prayers ... and thanks for allowing me to vent a little.
Re: Spent Saturday in the Emergency Room (Kind of Long)
I kept talking to Joshua while we were waiting for the ultrasound tech to arrive. I said, "I know your daddy and I keep saying we can't wait to see you ... but we CAN wait to see you! I'm going to have to teach you what a figure of speech is!"
Praise God that all is well with him. Strong heartbeat ... and he's up to 1.6 pounds!
Even though I was contracting, there was no dilation. Again, it was very scary but it turned out in the end. However, I'll suffer whatever I have to in order to get him here safe!
Thank you all for your prayers!
Our beautiful baby boy!!!
Trust in the Invisible ... and expect the INCREDIBLE!!!
Oh no, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't imagine how scary that must have been. So, the contractions have subsided completely? I hope you're feeling better.
