When will you move LO from the infanct carseat to the convertible one? Alexandra is in a Snug Ride 32 so she has lots of time before she hits the cutoff as far as height and weight but I was just curious. Because damn that thing is heavy now.
We moved DD1 at four months and DD2 at two months.
With DD1, even though she was well within the length/weight limits, she started to look squished and uncomfortable, and it was getting heavy to carry her in the seat -- so the convenience factor was gone and we went to the convertible.
DD2 hated the infant seat and shrieked every time she had to ride in it. Things got much, much better when we put her in the convertible at two months.
Not a stupid question. Really depends how fast little one grows. We had the smaller snug ride car seat and switched to a convertible a few weeks ago (he did outgrow it). It is also more comfy for him.
My DS isn't close to the weight, but I bet he is getting close to the height limit of the seat, since he is really long. We'll see at his 6 month appointment next week.
We haven't switched yet, but we will soon. Now that he can sit up, I've just been keeping the infant seat attached to the base in the car and not bringing it in the house/store, etc. I only carry it into daycare (because DCP uses the carseat!) When we make the switch to the convertible, we need to buy DCP a carset for her car too.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too!
It's FREE and EASY!
I'm wondering how much more comfortable she'd be because she is a chunker for sure. She's 16lbs and 26 1/4" as of a week ago and while the snugride 32 more than accommodates those numbers, she does look a little... crammed in, lol.
Yay, more expenses! Let's get a pony while we're at it!
We moved DD at 6 months/17 lbs. I wasn't carrying it anymore & the convertible is a lot easier to deal with in the car, and she seemed a lot more comfortable. She was sitting up at that point, but had she not, I would have just worn her in the store.
i waited to move ds until he could sit up on his own ...he was a fatty and the carrier was super heavy..but a life saver in the grocery store!!
This is the only reason DS is still in his infant seat and he's getting very close to the 1" cutoff for our seat. I have a feeling we'll have to move him out before he can sit up which means that I'll need to super pad him in his shopping cart cover until he can sit up on reliably on his own.
ETA: DS isn't even close to the weight limit but he's 28"+ already, so really tall for his age.

DD1, 1/5/2008 ~~~ DD2, 3/17/2010
I'll also be waiting until DS can sit up.
When she hits the height or weight limit.
If I don't want to carry the whole thing, I pop DD in the Ergo.
