Operation Deswaddle -> success!

Our previous attempts to deswaddle, either gradually or cold turkey failed miserable. I chalked it up to her not being ready yet.  Well, we started again this past weekend not swaddling for naps (we have been using the Woombie). Her naps went from being 1-2 hours long to only 45 minutes at a time.  The last couple  of days she has had mostly 45min naps with a long one in there (over an  hour each) per day!  And, the best part is that she's sleeping better at night now too (still swaddled at night).  If all continues to go well, we'll take away the swaddle at night next week.  It will be "Night Op-Deswaddle"! ;)

Re: Operation Deswaddle -> success!

  • Congrats!  We just successfully deswaddled a few days ago!  It took about a week and a half because we started with one arm out, etc..  We had tried before and failed, but DS started breaking out of it and rolling, so we knew we had to give it up.  I agree with you, I think DS was finally ready to be done :)

  • Congratulations!  Good to know that it does eventually work.  We tried this last week and it was a big fat fail.  I'm not going to try it again until DD learns how to roll.

    Is it bad that my DD still isn't rolling!!??  She just hates tummy time.  Love to sit though and she's balancing well!  she is close to rolling, so this was a pre-emptive strike.

    I don't think so!  Every LO is different.  At least yours is close...my DD will roll from her belly to her side, but can't get all the way over.  She'll do a half roll from her back to her belly (she'll twist the top half of her body over, but not the bottom half).  I think my DD is a lazy butt!  She does love to sit up, though.
