...and giving water, how do you give it? We aren't ready for solids yet but I'm reading "Super Baby Food" and just gathering info. Our plan is 6 months but will go on doctor's recommendation when we see her in a few weeks. I have feeling she will say to start since he can sit unsupported "tripod style", has alredy tripled his birth weight and his extrusion reflex is gone.
DS is EBF and we are currently experiencing difficulty with bottles. He's taken them fine since a week old and we are on strike now for whatever reason. Maybe teething or just a phase but we plan to keep at it.
So, do you give water in a bottle or a sippy cup? If a sippy cup what kind would you recommend?
Re: If you've started feeding solids...
I bought DS a sippy cup at target (Don't remember the brand sorry!) It was around 3 bucks though. It has a soft top on it, easy to suck/chew
DS also didn't do well with bottles and loves this sippy cup!! We even put BM in it as well.
We did all the cereals now we started sweet potato...like pp said it's a lot of fun!
I was planning on waiting until 6 months but had to start earlier due to digestion issues. Like your son, mine can sit tripod style (he just sat up last night for the very first time without doing the tripod thing!) and lost his tongue thrust. I like to let him control the spoon. I just dip it into the food then he takes it from there.
He's also been on sippy cups since around 3 months. Sometimes he has a lot of trouble with a bottle. It isn't that he doesn't want it but it's almost like he forgets what he's supposed to do with it. Lol! You want to start off with a very soft spout. The absolute best ones I've found are the Dr. Brown's and Nuby. I like Nuby the best because it's almost like a hybrid sippy - bottle but LO can handle that when he can't do a bottle. It might not be the best for you since your LO is on a bottle strike. I'd try the Dr. B's for sure.
