Transitioning to crib

DD currently sleeps in a PnP in our bedroom, but she's getting close to the bassinet's weight limit (15 lbs), so we're planning to move her to her crib in her nursery (right next door to our bedroom) over this long weekend.  I'm really nervous about doing this!

Any tips for getting her used to sleeping in her crib?  What was your experience?  Did you do this gradually (e.g., starting with daytime naps) or cold turkey?  We have an Angelcare monitor and a video monitor, and I have a feeling that even if she sleeps well, I'll be up watching it out of paranoia!

TIA!

Re: Transitioning to crib

  • We put DD in her crib at 3 weeks and she has STTN ever since.

For some reason she was miserable in her bassinet in our room and would cry all night.  One night DH got fed up and said she is going in the crib, that night she STTN and we never looked back!

DD was 2 weeks old when she started hating her PnP so we started co-sleeping..But she loooves sleeping on her belly (So the issue may not have been the PnP at all) and now shes almost 4 months I feel safer with her on her belly and shes mostly STTN.. She'll sleep anywhere I put her down for a few hours in her crib the other night but then took her to bed with me. Now that shes scooting herself around I leave her in the crib when she sleeps and I am up so she cant get far. (However when she drops her night feedings I'll leave her in her crib)

So, we havent had a problem.

  • I feel the same way.  DS sleeps in his PnP in our room and is just starting to STTN and I want to transition him to the crib bec hes getting too big for the PnP.  My issue is- his room is upstairs and ours is downstairs and I dont want him to be all alone up there...we also have an angelcare and video monitor but I just feel like Im gonna want him closer...not sure when I will be able to put him up there....
