strange movement... in chest area?

I had trouble falling asleep last night because I was getting this wierd feeling in my chest. It almost felt like my heart was fluttering really fast. I tried moving positions and nothing helped.

Tonight I'm having the same feeling, but I think it's baby. It doesn't feel like the quick jabs I get near my belly button and below. They are really tiny, quick movements that last for a few second at a time right in the middle of my chest near my sternam.

Is this normal? Is anyone else feeling this???

  • Its definitely NOT your baby. It sounds like heart palpitations. Your blood volume increases and it has to work harder while you're pg. Call your doctor if you think it may be serious.

  • Yeah, baby doesn't roam your body freely.  Many heart-related issues can feel like something else-  I once had heartburn so bad I thought I was having a heart attack (at 21- lol!).  I agree with PP, talk to your doctor if you're worried

  • Yeah, its not your baby its most likely heart palpitations. I get this sputtery feeling in my chest, just below where my heart is kind of at the bottom of my rib cage under my breast. It feels like blood is trying to get through but the vein is pinched and the blood is sputtering through.  I get it when I lay on my left side...I asked my midwife about it and she says its normal because there's so much blood pumping and to just flip over. I find when I switch sides or sit up it usually goes away.

This feels the most like what I'm experiencing... Today I was sitting in a meeting and felt it a couple times. It was similar to bubbles popping under my skin, but it seemed too quick for it to be the baby. If it keeps up I'm calling the Doc.

    Thanks for your help ladies!
