1st appt

I called today to schedule my first appointment and I knew it would be a few weeks away, but I wasn't thinking I'd have to wait until October (9 weeks). I don't want to rush this whole pregnancy, but I hope that appointment gets here quickly so I know everything is okay! The waiting game is the hardest. The good news is that I go back to school (teaching) tomorrow so that'll keep me very busy for the next 37 days (but who's counting? :o

Is there anyone else who is waiting for their first appointment? At what week are you going?

Edit: I just realized that since we're all due in the same month, probably a lot of us are still waiting for our first appt.  That was my "duh moment" for the night. :)

Re: 1st appt

  • I have a call appointment with a nurse on 9/7 and then they generally schedule a physical exam and ultrasound 1-2 weeks after that - I will be 7 or 8 weeks by that time.  I hear you on the waiting being hard.  I am a total control freak so not having any control or say over what's going on with my body is very very hard for me.

  • Waiting sucks! My first appt and ultrasound is on wed Sept 8th. I think I will be 6w3d at that point if i am calculating correctly. I wanted it to be a week later, but my doc will be on vacation for 2 weeks and then we are on vacation. I hope we will be able to see the HB that early.

  • I'm having blood work now and PRAY my doc with see me sooner if my blood work is good.

But she usually makes people wait till their 8th or 9th week.

  • Normally my OB office sees patients for a first appointment between 8-10 weeks.

This time because of my previous loss, they're seeing me at 7 weeks (mainly for my peace of mind.) It does seem like a long time to wait, but I think a lot of pregnancy is waiting! :-) Hopefully this first part will zoom by. I'm sure the teaching will help it pass quick for you!

  • I'm not able to make my first appointment until after I go to this seminar at the birth center I plan to deliver at.  The seminar is next Thursday, Sept 9.  After we go, I can make my appointment, which will hopefully be within a couple weeks of that and I will be about 8-9 weeks.  From my understanding, that's the normal time frame getting in to see your dr.

  • I go on 9/22 for the whole mess of stuff - blood work, pap, ultrasound, history, so on and so on and so on...

I had two reactions when I scheduled the appointment.  The first was a wave of "holy sh!t I'm pregnant" and the second was the thought that I wasn't sure I could wait that long to see if everything is ok.  Will it make me a psycho if I POAS every week until then?

But I'm glad I get to have an ultrasound and hear the heartbeat on the first visit. (Just typing that made me have another OMG moment).

GL to everyone else that's waiting....

I've had a lot of those "omg I'm pregnant" moments. It's so surreal.

Baby brain is getting to you already! lol Don't worry, it's hitting me too :)

I go the 27th for my first appointment, at which I'll be about 8 weeks..However, I'm starting to doubt my dating, so when I go to for my appointment on the 7th to solely talk about my meds, I'll ask her about a dating ultrasound - I think I'm actually earlier than I thought..I do not know, though, if an u/s is done at my 8 week appointment..it wasn't brought up..but I know it will be a fairly long and in depth appointment..I'll have to ask about the u/s when I'm there on the 7th..
