Babies: 3 - 6 Months

All LO wants to do is sit up/stand

All of a sudden Dylan hates his bouncy seat, playmat and basically anything that makes him lie flat or reclined.  Even his bathtub!  He spends all of his time straining to sit straight up.  Thank goodness for the Bumbo and jumparoo!  And when I help him sit, he starts pushing to stand up.  It was cute at first, but I'm over it now!

Anyone else have a baby that thinks he's a big boy?

Re: All LO wants to do is sit up/stand

  • Yep, LO is exactly like this. He is also extremely curious and wants to be carried so that he is facing out. If you carry him with his head on your shoulder, he sneaks his face around so that he is looking as much forward as he possibly can. I guess he wants to see what is ahead of him instead of where he has been....lol.

  • yes! DS is very into standing up right now. :)
  • Me!  DD thinks she can just get down on the ground and start walking with us.  Whenever we hold her and are taking a walk, she's always pushing away from us and looking down at the ground like let me down mommy/daddy!!  She doesn't mind doing tummy time or laying on her back though.  But she does prefer to sit on our laps then to cuddle and lay up against us. :0(

  • My Dylan is the same way. He arches his back when he's in his car seat, swing, anything! He insists on being in his jumperoo or bumbo. He doesn't even like for me to hold him like a baby anymore!
  • We went through this right around 4 mos. now she is army crawling and sitting up on her own and the whole standing thing is still fun to her but not like it was when she first discovered it.  I think it is like the whole "Wow I can do THIS" thing!
  • my LO has just discovered these. I still need to get a bumbo and exercauser...I always think I have more time until she hits milestones. :)

This for our LO too - it has become so hard to carry him because he is trying to look ahead and down. The other day he was standing next to his jumperoo and holding himself up by the bars on the outside. He does not like to sit - he loves to stand too!

  • Yep. Same here with DS. If you try to lay him flat for any reason he automatically starts lifting his head to sit up. He's gonna be a happy boy when he finally can on his own!
  • That is EXACTLY how Skylar is these days! Always wanting to stand and bounce in my lap. So much so that I went out and bought him a Jolly Jumper which he LOVES. He's also in a rolling-over stage.
  • Totally can relate!  Around 2 months or so DD decided she hated looking at the ceiling all the time.  She only wants to be held vertically or 'supergirl' style.  AND she is also very curious and always want to be carried and moving...she can't stand to stay still.  hopefully she'll want to be carried less as she gets more mobile on her own...although that might bite back at me since I'll have to be chasing after her once she starts crawling.
