Can you make Gerber oatmeal ahead of time . . .

DD starts daycare on Wednesday and I think I'm going to have them feed her oatmeal once during the day.  Our pedi said she knows working moms who do that so they can save time in the mornings.  Can I make it ahead of time or do I send the dry oatmeal and breastmilk or formula to mix with it?

  • I'm no pro at knowing what to send to daycare, but I would think send premeasured oatmeal and the formula or BM.  If the oatmeal sat too long made I'd think it'd get hard and nasty.

  • C goes to DC twice a week. I always send oatmeal, which I've made the night before and it's never a problem. You can absolutely make it ahead of time.

  • DD doesn't go to daycare but if I'm out for the day visiting with family I'll just put dry oatmeal in a little tupperware container that I use for dressing and then add formula when I'm ready to feed it to her.

  • I alway make mine in the morning and send it to daycare.  DS eats it all, so I'm assuming he likes it.
  • I send DS with his solids mixed with cereal and it's always fine.  There are parents at our daycare that send the dry cereal with formula too but I like to do it this way so it's the consistancy I like.

  • Trust me darlin'--do as much as you possibly can the night before. I make DD's oatmeal the night before--it's just fine at DC. Never had a problem.
