Stretch Marks!!!!! AGH!!!!!!

So, I was looking at my belly when I got out of the shower this morning and it is covered in stretch marks. Covered! It's like they appeared out of nowhere! I know nothing cures them, but I bought some tummy butter and am hoping that makes them fade a little bit.

Anyone else have stretch marks sneak their way in?

Re: Stretch Marks!!!!! AGH!!!!!!

  • They started with an innoculous looking red line, like a scratch, and then bam! I have retired the thought of ever wearing a two piece again.

     Worth it, though. :)

  • I had 1!! and I named it Frank.. and every day I told it not to get any friends... then I looked one day and there is a miny stretch mark party hanging out on the underside of my belly. Now I tell them to stay down there and not to climb their way up! lol

  • Welcome to the club- I've got them all over my belly- no cute, smooth pregnant belly for me! I put lotion on (stretch mark control stuff), but more than anything, it's for the itching

I figure I'll work on fading them later. Still no fun though :((.

  • Start using Mederma now...it will help.  It's more effective the newer the scar is so just start it now like a belly cream and keep it up after the baby is here and hopefully that will limit the damage somewhat.

  • I've heard Strivectin can help if you use it while your stretch marks are new. It couldn't hurt! It's expensive though.

I will have to get some of this. I've heard great things about it, but they didn't carry it at WalMart. So, I guess I'll have to start a hunt for it. Thanks! =)

I'm glad there's others in the club. I feel so included. Big Smile

  • none on my tummy yet! as for my boobies & thighs, thats another story lol.

I plan on using Mederma later. I started to during the pregnancy, but the chemical smell was getting to me. I just couldn't shake the feeling that I was putting chemicals directly where they could get to the baby.... Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'd rather not risk it.

  • i dont have any yet...but im not holding my breath.  my mom got them so i know ill get them too!
  • Had to visit a fetal-maternal specialist today (found out all is well!) but had a discussion with her about stretch marks.  She said the best thing to do is not to worry about them now and get a prescription for Retin-A to fade them AFTER the baby is born.  (You can't use Retin-A will pregnant, not sure about breastfeeding.)

You can't use it while breastfeeding either.

It's not the end of the world that I have them- I mean, nobody but myself and my husband have access to my belly, so it's not like a lot of people will see them. but I thought if I could make them fade a little, or at least maybe get a handle on them early on, that that would be ideal. They're just so unattractive.
