Found a crib this weekend

My parents were here for the weekend to visit and took us shopping Sunday afternoon to look for a crib.  We were planning to buy it ourselves but my dad really wanted to do it for us.  DH and my dad set it up in the nursery when we got home.  Its so strange to see it there but the crib combined with the few other things we've gotten are starting to make it feel really "real".

We're holding off on any decor items and other major purchases until we find out the sex in a few weeks but so far we have a crib, dresser (found on Craigslist), swing (from family), and some other odds and ends we picked up last week at a big consignment sale.

Congrats on finding the crib! We haven't bought any major items yet. I've gotten a few little things (books, clothes, etc.) and I have the furniture picked out but we won't make any purchases for a few more weeks.

That is awesome that you are getting started on the nursery already!  (I'm jealous!) 

We have a crib that we're going to move out of DS's room for this baby.  And, we already have a changing table and dresser for the baby's room.  But, I think we're going to need to get some big boy furniture for DS for his room.  Plus, like you, we're waiting to buy a lot until we know boy or girl.  Mostly bedding, decoration, etc...

Although, I admit, I'm already on the hunt for a double stroller.  Just not sure what kind yet.

What crib did you get?

It's a Graco - Charleston something or other.  It was at Target and BRU for within $10 of each other and recommended in Baby Bargains and had good reviews on Amazon and fit into our $250 or less budget.

We haven't really bought anything yet. We're planning on moving before baby comes, though.

So far, we've purchased the rocking chair, some cloth diapers, and a few other random things. We need to clear out one of the guest rooms and then we're going to buy the furniture and the stroller - they're both picked out. Hopefully, we can get this started in the next few weeks and completed in the next few months. I'm the type of person that likes to check things off the list and have things done way in advance.

I 'accidentally' set up my nursery last week!! A friend gave me the bedding set, really the whole thing- all the decor, window treatments, etc., and I'd bought just a few small decor things for above the dresser. We got the crib and dresser and changing table off CraigsList, and when my DH brought up the finished dresser (he painted it) I started removing some of the wall stickers that were there with my DD... and then I started putting up some of the decor so the walls didn't look bare... then moved the furniture into place... then put in the crib bedding to see how it'd look... It really 9only took me an hour and a half, and I was shocked that I had FINISHED the nursery already!! Hadn't meant to do that, just wanted to put things in order for when I was ready to do it all. I LOVE it though, it's so serene to be in that room and just think of the baby that will soon be in there.
