Flutters: Are you having them?

I know this is asked several times over but what did they feel like to you?

I just experienced some twinge but since I second guess everything unless it happens again, I'm thinking it wasn't baby.  Plus where are you feeling the flutters?  Center of belly?  Off to left side, right around the pelvic bone area?

Re: Flutters: Are you having them?

  • I have been feeling her since about 14 weeks. It was the same with DD#1, but I wasn't sure at that point. Now that I know what it feels like, yes, I knew it! And now, at almost 18 weeks, I feel more than flutters! Gentle kicks and rolls too. It's a really great feeling.

  • Not feeling them yet with this one, but I'm barely 14 weeks.

With my son I would always explain the feeling as if you had your hand on the outside of a bag of popcorn as it would pop, that feeling was what I felt when the baby moved (just not with my hand though). Does that make any sense?

  • Nothing yet and I am so unbelievably anxious to feel anything.

  • Still haven't felt any flutter yet... just the occasional 5 seconds cramp around the appendix area which I highly doubt that's the baby kicking since I'm only at 17 weeks.

My OB did say though that since it's our first, we wont feel it move probably until around 20 weeks or so.

  • I felt some "pops" around 15 weeks, but at 16 weeks exactly I felt like a butterfly or a moth was flapping its wings against my stomach. That's the best way to describe it for me. The movements usually last about 3 seconds at a time, and it's usually when I'm sitting or laying down .I feel them about a 1/2inch to 1 inch below my bellybutton.

For me, I thought I felt them before, but once I started feeling them for real it was unmistakable. I hope that helps!

I have been feeling weird things for the past week or so and second guessing myself, but I'm fairly certain I felt the baby yesterday. It was still quite a bit below my bellybutton and felt like a very gentle swipe from the inside.. sounds silly but it kind felt like something rolled over.

  • I can't decide if it's gas or flutters. It's generally below my belly button, and I only feel it if I sit real still and concentrate.

  • Thanks ladies.  This must be a muscle twinge that I had.  It lasted a few seconds and hasn't come back.

Can't wait to feel baby though!

  • Yes! I finally started having them pretty regularly throughout the day starting last week.  I usually feel them in the center of my belly about an inch and a half below my belly button. Every once in a while I will feel them off to the right side.
