Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Water - to mix with formula

Sending DS to a new daycare this week.  They mentioned that they use tap water to mix the formula, and I know that the tap water there is gross (it's where my DH works).  The said that i can bring in bottled.

Do you do regular bottled or the nursery water.  I started to read that the nursery water has too much fluoride that can be bad?

Help?!?!

Re: Water - to mix with formula

  • Can you fill the bottles at home? If so then I would get a regular faucet water filter, and do it like that. You will save money that way.

    THIS!

My pedi told me that most tap water is safe and that a small amount of flouride is good for baby's developing teeth, but if you know there are issues at DC, by all means avoid it.  Don't use regular bottled water because many times all the nutrients have been removed.  Nursery water is too expensive and definitely not eco-friendly.  A faucet filter is the best way to go.

Just a question... what nutrients are there in water to begin with?

  • I use Nursery Water. You can get it at any grocery store. I use the one with the pink top and it has a baby on the front of it.

  • My oops!  That should have said beneficial minerals, not nutrients.  Sorry. I was posting on the fly.

  • Thanks for the replies.  We have a filtered system at home, and I use that to make his bottles.  I think I'll get a container and send it with him everyday to school.  They supply the formula, so I wouldn't want to make the bottles to send with him.
