Ack! Dd is 3 1/2 months...she was going 8-10 hrs at night and now is up every 2-3 hrs. She eats and goes back to sleep but she comfort nurses for what seems like over an hour at a time. During the day she likes to eat, pull off, eat, pull off etc. She does this at anytime during the feed so I don't think it's a supply issue. And she is spitting up/throwing up a lot more than usual (also only during the day not at night). No fever, no congestion but is fussier. If it's a growth spurt (which I hadn't noticed a 3 month one before this) how long will it last (it's already been 4 days).
Re: Growth spurt? 4 month wakefull? Both?
DD went through something similar last week (ours lasted 7 days). She would sleep from 10 PM until 6 - 8 AM and not wake up even once during the night. Then suddenly and without warning, she started getting up once or twice, even three times a night, and then wake up for good at between 4 - 6 AM. Then after a week of this, just as suddenly, she went back to her normal sleeping pattern.
I thought it was an early onset of the 4-month wakeful period, but now I'm thinking it was more likely a growth spurt, because she couldn't touch the floor when I put her in her Jumperoo, and now she can. Like you, I didn't notice her 3-month growth spurt before this, so it's very possible that this is what it is. Try swaddling, if you don't already do so...and stay consistent with your nighttime routine. Hang in there!!
