Please, someone say yes, and please tell me it's not terrible. I can't even imagine having some pill dissolve in my mouth to deal with nausea. Ick.
I'm frustrated with my doctor's office because I called in asking for a refill on my Zofran. I have been taking the 4mg pills and told them so. I picked it up yesterday. Got home and unpackaged the Rx to find that they gave me 8mg dissolvable pills.
DH went back to the pharmacy today to tell them it was wrong, and they basically said I'm stuck with them, because even if my Dr. calls in the correct ones, insurance won't cover them a second time. And the pharm insisted that "this is what the doctor called in; they should have told her it was a higher dosage."
I don't want the higher dosage. These pills have worked for my m/s, but also give me major headaches. I had my first migraine over the weekend in over 4 months and getting rid of it was no walk in the park. Why would my doctor call in a pill that is double the strength and not tell me about it? I don't know what to do other than deal with what I have, so I'm hoping I can cut them in half and that they don't taste terrible and make me gag, because that would be counterproductive.
Thanks for hearing me vent. And please share any experience with the dissolvable pills.
Re: Anyone taking the Zofran that dissolves?
I take the dissolving tablets and I really don't find them to be all that awful. They almost taste kind of sweet. But, I have been throwing up so badly and they are the only thing that keeps that from happening so I really don't care what they taste like. :-)
Your doctor may have reason for putting you on 8mg, but they should have told you. Try taking just one and see what happens?
I'd call your doctor. Not all drugs can be cut in half. You also should check about the increased dosage.
I've never taken dissovable Zofran but I didnt have a stomach med I took several years back that dissolved. It didn't make me gag or anything. Was super easy to take
I am on the 8mg dissolving generic Zofran and I don't think it is that bad. Mine sort of tastes minty. The one thing that I have found to help is to keep the pill in the front of my mouth (by the tip of my tongue) and once it has completely disolved, I swallow everything in one big gulp and then drink something. I found that the taste bothered me more when I would swallow several times as it was dissolving.
