Babies: 3 - 6 Months

If you have a BOB Revolution stroller...

At what age can you put your LO in the BOB without the car seat?  I'm thinking that DD would enjoy our walks a lot more if she were facing forward.  DD will be 4 months old next week and has great head control, and I'm not planning to go off-roading or jogging in it anytime soon.

The instruction manual is rather vague and recommends that "your child should be at least 8 weeks old before riding in a BOB stroller", but that seems a little young to stop using the car seat with it.

Thanks!

  • I thought it was 6 months...

  • I actually went out for the first time today without the infant seat. LO HATES the car seat. It went great! LOL also has excellent head control. If your LO has good head control, do what you are comfortable with.

  • We tried it yesterday with Mr. D and he wasn't very comfortable in--the 5 point harness was way too big and even thought he has great head control we had to put in a blanket to prop him up from the bottom. So back to the car seat we go... we'll try again in a month or so.

  • Thanks, Ladies!  I think I'll give it a try this weekend and see how it goes!

  • We just did this weekend, we took three walks!  My Lo is almost 17 lbs and he did great!  You do know that you can also recline the seat to almost a laying position...we reclined it half way and he fell asleep!

  • I put my LO in without the carseat in the fully reclined position when he was just shy of 8 weeks. I had a little car seat head/neck support thing that I put in just to make him more comfortable but he was just fine and we've been using it without the carseat ever since (he's 14 weeks now) and we walk around 5k almost every day. No jogging until he's 6-8 months but I've heard of people jogging earlier if they feel they're LO's have sufficient head control. I think on smooth pavement, it wouldn't be a problem but anything bumpier, I would wait it out.
  • We've been doing it for a while now - maybe since LO was 12 weeks or so? We use the snuzzler thing that we originally got for the carseat. She likes to look out and also falls asleep better b/c she can find a comfortable position.
  • they can ride in it after 8 weeks (without the attachment)-- just no jogging until 8 months.

  • I have the jeep liberty jogger and we've been jogging for about 2 weeks now w/out car seat

  • Six months is the recommendation because they need to have good trunk control, in addition to good head control.  I think if you go for a short easy walk you'd probably be ok if it's reclined a bit too.  Anything else I would stick with the car seat.  We took Gavin to the zoo and let him sit in the seat.  He is sitting up pretty good for 10-20 seconds without hands to support himself (can't catch himself and return to sitting quite yet) and he was still slouched in the seat without it reclined.
