The name game...oh no!

First off, I am a very detailed oriented planner by nature.  I know this is early but me a DH CANNOT agree on a name, boy or girl; we are on completely different sides of the spectrum.  We find out in three weeks and I plan to paint right away with the name on the wall.  I cannot go into the hospital without a name, that's just how I am.  Should I chill out and wait?  How are you all handling the name game? any perspective you can give on how to solve it if you just cant agree?  It's driving me nuts!

Re: The name game...oh no!

  • We've started a boy and girl name list. We're both just adding names that we like and we're just going to look at them for a while. After we find out the gender, we'll take our list and narrow it down together and hope we come up with the perfect name that we both love. We did start our lists a while ago because I want to be able to ponder some of them for a while. I'm not sure if that would help you at all, but I hope you both find a name you love and agree on!

  • We've been able to decide on a boys first name, but are fighting over the middle name.  We were given a hint that it's a boy from the last sonogram, so we haven't decided on a girls name yet, but we do have a list to discuss if we need it.

In the end if we can't agree on the middle name then we'll probably have to flip a coin!

  • I am EXACTLY like you.  I have to know the name.  For us, once we knew the gender, then we found a name that STUCK.  We have a boys name this time, but no girls name.  We find out the gender in 2 weeks.

For some people, they have a couple of names in mind, then once they deliver, they have that feeling that yes, my baby "looks" like this name or that name...

  • We have had a girl name for a while. Our 12 u/s gave us an early guess of boy, so we've been thinking about it and I think we might have found it.

The middle names are already decided because they're both family names, so we just had to pick first names.

  • once we knew what we were having I started a list of names but we didn;t actually start talking about a final name until I was around 30wks.

  • I am in the same boat!  If you figure out a good way to compromise, please let me know!

  • My boyfriend and I were the same way! Everything I liked, he hated, and swore up and down that the child would get made fun of... So eventually we decided to not talk about names until we knew the gender... this was to prevent unnecessary arguments. I continued to read baby name books, and look names up online. I eventually found a name that I loved and stuck to it. It was just a matter of time before he agreed and now even refers to our little girl by her name. :)   I even said if he gave me the first name, he could pick the middle name. But, I think my name grew on him. Stick to it.
