congestion & coughing but no cold?

Anyone else experiencing this?  I cough mostly when I lay down at night.  But every morning I am blowing my nose.  I am not congested no runny nose but it seems I am producing a lot of stuff, mostly in the morning.  I have never had alergies so I don't think it is that.  Sorry if TMI...

Is it a common symptom of pregnancy?

Re: congestion & coughing but no cold?

  • congestion and sneezing is definitely a pregnancy symptom.  I don't know about the coughing.

  • I have a stuffy nose every single morning, and a little bit of an itchy throat. I always feel sick - like I am getting a cold - for about 20 minutes or so and then it clears up and the rest of the day is fine! I think it's totally normal.

  • I've been having some chest congestion (coughing up phlegm) too - I bet it's from post-nasal drip. Awesome.

  • That is very common from what I can tell, I am having the same problem. From what I understand, all your mucus membranes swell during pregnancy or something to that effect. Try a room humidifier where you sleep, that helped me some.

  • I'm stuffed up and coughing almost every day (Not today, today is nosebleed day) This is my theory: since our immune systems are compromised, everything in the air bugs us. And we are overproducing saliva which we want to cough out because we're not used to it
