1st Bradley Class last night

& it was awesome!  I expected a bit more of a "crunchy' scene, but it was not the group of dreaded hippies wearing petrulli oil that I had imagined.  Just a bunch of pretty down to earth, educated, and "normal" couples trying to do the best they can to have a natural & intervention free birth.  My teacher is amazing, but I was pretty aware of that before class started. The next 12 weeks are going to fantastic!  I hope for anyone else who is signed up for the class, that they have a great group & instructor like we are lucky to have.  Smile

  • That is great, I wish I could sign up for these classes but working and finding a babysitter for that many nights for my two year old would be tough!

  • that's great!  we had ours last thursday.  We have so much homework!  The class was awesome. it's us and 2 other down to earth, young couples.  we are quite the comedy act.. it's a lot of fun.  the classes were a reality check for me/us because of the exercises/positions you have to practice each week (the stretching and rocking and squatting)...  makes me realize how important the stamina is going to be throughout the labor and delivery.
  • Mine starts the 18th - I'm also hoping there are some down to earth couples there.  The interactions I've had with the instructor so far have been great though.  I'm really looking forward to starting!

  • DH loved it!  Probably not as much as I did just because he's not into these types of things as much, but I think he was really happy that we decided to go the Bradley route in retrospect.

Our class is fairly large (something like 11-12 couples) but its nice to meet all these couples and get a diverse opinion on the idea of "natural" birth & know that there are so many out there in our VERY conservative area that are down with a more "heady" approach to birthing your child.

  • We had our 1st Bradley class last night, too!  And, I agree-we were expecting a very crunchy scene (even making jokes about it), but it wasn't that way at all.  I don't know why I had preconceived ideas given that I'm a doula and a lot of people expect that all doulas are hippies, too (I'm afraid I'm not at all).  Our instructor was very deadpan but I'm hoping she perks up a bit.
