Or do you find the turnaround such that you still end up going to blockbuster or redbox? How would you rate the experience, from 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best)?
We have liked doing it. We did it 7 or 8 years ago, then stopped, and just started back up. My husband likes it b/c he has been watching the Wire dvd's, and can get them mailed as compared to having to buy the seasons. I have been doing the streaming stuff as well. I am not that gung-ho about movies, so the lag time has not bothered me. And it is quick- we will send back a movie on Monday, they receive it and mail the next on Tues, and we have it on Wednesday.
When we first had it a few years ago, I rated it a 5. But the turnaround time started getting longer and longer - like 2 weeks, and we started reporting things as "missing" because it was taking so long - and finally got rid of Netflix. We had other friends who had the same problem.
It's been about 2 yrs since we stopped the service and I've been thinking of getting it again because they've hopefully gotten their act together a bit better. Maybe for DH for Christmas?

we love it. dh does the list of what comes when? we have so much on the list! but we mail one back, get something else within 3 -4 days. done. not sure how it is with the list order? dh doesn't complain. he knows what to expect in the mail. we've only had one come in unplayable, big scratch on it. it issues, new one sent. I'd say 5. but I'm not trying to get the latest releases asap. if that's the case, then just go the rental store.
I think the turn around depends on where you live. We get our movies super quickly. Like 2 days after we send back one we get a new one from our list. We get 2 at a time so we are usually never without a movie to watch unless we watch 2 on consecutive days, which rarely happens. We also have a Roku box so we can watch a lot of things instantly. I would rate it a 5.
I agree that the turn around must depend on where you live. Typically, if we return a movie on Thursday, for example, we will get the next one on a Saturday. We have the two movie plan and get one movie for us and one for our boys.
I like Netflix a lot. If I wasn't so lazy, I could pay waaaaay less just by using Redbox. I hate leaving the house just for that though.
We stream a lot of stuff on the 360, but we really don't have problems at all, things come in a super timely fashion, and its very convenient. I don't like leaving for little trips like taking a movie back, etc. We got rid of our cable/dvr over a year ago now, and mainly just watch things here and there on netflix. I'd rate it a 5.
I've tried it awhile back and just cancelled my second membership through them. I am an instant gratification kind of girl and the online content wasn't as good as I thought it would be. We have a Blue Ray Wifi and use Amazon to rent movies. We love this! They have every new release, it's completely on demand and we don't have to mail things out and keep up with the queu.

I liked it when we had it. After a few years, we ran out of movies to see (this was before DS). Now we use On Demand for most of our movies. We have HBO and our cable provider will give us another movie channel for free depending on their offer for new customers. If a Disney movie is on Starz or Disney XT, we'll record it to our DVR.
We love it. We mail the movie back one day and two days later we have a new one, so it's very quick turn around. We also do the streaming through our wii, which is great for the kids.
