I also posted a version of this on baby names... but I really wanted to check here since I think you ladies are pretty rad and have your heads on your shoulders.

basically... we would like to use it for a boy. However, more than once, I have mentioned the name and ppl reply "oh, I love that for a girl. You can call her Emma!" I am just worried it's getting too trendy as a "unisex" name and ppl will think it's a girl name!
Or I am over thinking things.

wow I just looked it up and I guess it IS currently more popular as a girl's name. very strange, it just seems like a manly name. I like it. DH and I are having a similar problem as his favorite name for out LO is Finley, but I don't like the idea of naming our boy something that is more common for a girl.

Ugh- I hate this. We are between Emerson and Elijah and I think DH is leaning towards Emerson. I just can't shake how trendy it is for girls right now. DH thinks I shouldn't care "what's trendy", but seriously, I just can't stop thinking about all the people who name their girls this!

I agree with Techie.
If you've read the Runway Series by Meg Cabot, the main character is a girl and her name is Emerson and goes by the nickname Em.

But there is a woman on my local nest board who has a daughter named Emerson.
