Tell me your bedtime routine.....

we dont do one, we have such a crazy schedule, I am a varsity volleyball coach and my husband is in school and coaches varsity football, plus works full time...I also work part time at Curves.....so we are home at different times at night....but I am wondering if I need to do the same thing every night??? Does it seem to help your LO?  What time do you start?  What all do you do?  Also my LO ethier hates or loves the bath so its hard to know if that is going to relax him for bed or get him fired up....

Re: Tell me your bedtime routine.....

  • Change into PJs, swaddle, sometimes a book (if she's not crying to eat), nurse, bed.  Takes maybe 30 mins :)  We never got into the long routine and the bath gets her revved up like crazy.  The few times we've given her a late bath she has slept horribly.  We start when she starts showing sleepy cues in the evening, usually between 8:30 and 9.

  • We dont stick to time . We instead stick to just schedule.

I have a 3 year old we get down first. While Dh is reading my 3 year old a story while in bed, I give the baby a bath. So Baby gets a bath, and then right out of the bath I dry her off and put lotion on. Then I get her dressed, swaddler her immediatly, sit in the rocker, turn her seahorse on, and nurse her while she drifts off. I aim to start bath at 6:45. But with my older DD its hard to stick to time. But we do stick to routine. Also we do give a "bath" every night, but I do not wash her with soap every night.

  • Bath, lotion, jammies, stories, rocking and then nurse to sleep. The time of it varies but it has changed bedtime so much. She goes down so easy now, whereas before we had a routine bedtime was a struggle every night.
  • Ours is similar - rice cereal (and now a little baby food), bath, change to PJs, and bottle.  We have done this routine since she was about 7 weeks (she is 5 months) and she goes down pretty quickly.  We start anywhere between 630-7.  We also go off of her cues, so sometimes it might start at 6, but then I will extend bath time or PJ time so she will go down closer to 7.
  • we start ours around 6:30

    walk (in stroller around neighborhood)

    bath

Aveeno lavendar lotion & pj's, turn on white noise machine

    nurse

    book

    song

crib w/ shirt i slept in the night before & seahorse

  • Our routine is diaper, jammies, Halo sleepsack, nurse, rock if needed, then into crib.  We usually start around 8:30/9pm, depending on how he napped during the day.  And we don't do a bath in conjunction to bedtime (and he gets a bath every 3rd day).
